Lebanon was drawn into the conflict between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other on March 2, after Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel in retaliation for an Israeli strike that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Israel responded with an extensive air campaign over Lebanon and a ground invasion.
