Health officials at Nasser Medical Complex report a 12-year-old Palestinian child was killed in an Israeli drone strike in al-Mawasi, near Khan Younis.
Israeli military operations persist in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, resulting in two Palestinian deaths despite an ongoing “ceasefire” agreement established in the Gaza Strip in October 2025.
According to Nasser Medical Complex administrators, the child fatality occurred in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, following an Israeli drone strike that injured multiple other individuals.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health data indicates that Israeli attacks since the “ceasefire” implementation have caused 1,027 fatalities and 3,280 injuries. The cumulative toll from Israel’s Gaza military campaign, which commenced in October 2023, shows 73,041 Palestinian deaths and 173,402 wounded individuals.
The child’s death follows a United Nations Commission of Inquiry’s report concluding that Israeli forces intentionally target Palestinian children as part of a genocidal campaign in Gaza. Commission Chair Srinivasan Muralidhar stated, “Evidence demonstrates systematic targeting of Palestinian children violates international protections owed to minors under Geneva Conventions.”
Al Jazeera’s Gaza City correspondent Hind Khoudary reported Israeli military officials had designated al-Mawasi as a “safe zone” prior to the attack. She confirmed Israeli forces struck a Palestinian tent containing the deceased child, Ahmed, along with seven other wounded individuals. Medical professionals highlighted persistent barriers treating casualties due to Israeli-imposed medical supply restrictions.
“Despite proclaimed ceasefire conditions, Israeli military actions persistently target Gaza’s civilian population, including areas supposedly protected under conflict law,” Khoudary stated, documenting continued assaults on Gaza’s western territory.
In the northern occupied West Bank’s al-Yamoun, 29-year-old Mohammed Nazem Zayed died from Israeli live fire during a military raid near Jenin. Palestinian Health Ministry officials reported Israeli special forces killed Zayed before seizing his body, with an Israeli army source referencing “operational activity” in the incident.
