Negotiations have commenced with Israeli firms concerning the large-scale demolition of structures in Gaza, according to Walla, which described the initiative as unprecedented in scope.
A security source noted that while the peace government seeks to expedite reconstruction, it is not achieving the expected timelines or the breadth of the planned effort.
“Vast amounts of destruction are intended to be converted into recycled construction materials, a substantial portion to be relocated, while simultaneously leveling extensive zones to enable new housing development — even prior to the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of the Strip,” the source added.
The plan foresees massive volumes of rubble being transformed into recycled building materials, with a considerable share earmarked for transport to other locations.
At the same time, areas of the Strip would be cleared to facilitate future residential projects, despite the absence of both Hamas disarmament and the Strip’s demilitarization.
A security official warned that the pace and scope of these developments could have far‑reaching consequences.
He cautioned that if the current trajectory persists, renewed hostilities may become inevitable to disarm Gaza, dismantle its underground infrastructure, and neutralize weapon caches concealed within.
He further indicated that continued progress along this path would leave no alternative but to resume combat operations to dismantle Hamas’s subterranean network, which serves purposes of concealment, weapons manufacturing, operational planning, and arms storage.
