An Israeli drone strike on a civilian gathering during a funeral in central Gaza has resulted in eight deaths and 20 injuries, according to multiple sources. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement, raising tensions in the region.
The incident has increased the toll of Palestinian casualties in Israeli operations within Gaza since Friday, with authorities reporting 13 deaths and 25 injuries over the past 72 hours.
Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp confirmed receiving eight bodies and treating 20 injured individuals following the strike in the Al-Balata market area.
Eyewitness accounts indicate the drone targeted civilians gathered outside the Ahmad Yassin Mosque as they prepared for a funeral procession. The victim had been killed earlier that day by Israeli forces.
Social media videos show bodies and wounded individuals on the ground, with blood staining clothing and visible trauma.
The Gaza Media Office condemned the attack as part of a pattern of Israeli violations, stating, “The Israeli army has killed over 25 Palestinians in attacks on markets, funerals, and civilian gatherings in the past 72 hours.”
The office emphasized that these actions defy international humanitarian law and constitute a systematic campaign against unarmed civilians.
The strike highlights Israel’s continued disregard for the October 10, 2025, ceasefire, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting 1,127 deaths and 3,643 injuries from such violations as of Thursday.
Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign has reportedly killed over 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 173,000, while destroying approximately 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.
