The Palestinian Health Ministry states the assault reflects Israel’s continued deliberate targeting of healthcare facilities.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, an Israeli drone strike on a hospital in northern Gaza wounded staff members even though a purported ceasefire remains in effect.
The Friday incident occurred at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya. Medical sources reported that at least three individuals were injured in the courtyard and three others in the surrounding area.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that three civilians were wounded in the courtyard and three maintenance workers nearby. The strike took place despite the facility being situated within the so-called Green Zone, an area under Israeli control.
The ministry condemned the attack, describing it as part of Israel’s systematic targeting of health facilities. It warned that such assaults undermine the capacity of healthcare workers and hospitals to deliver routine and emergency medical care.
Gaza’s healthcare system has nearly collapsed amid Israel’s ongoing military campaign. Thousands of Palestinians require medical treatment abroad, but Israeli movement restrictions have prevented most from leaving the enclave, deepening the humanitarian crisis.
Wafa reported that at least a dozen people were injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Friday.
Several were wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians near the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Israeli drones also struck homes in the Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City.
The health ministry urged the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to publicly condemn attacks on Gaza’s medical infrastructure to pressure Israel to halt them.
International Calls for Release of Detained Palestinian Physician
The strike on Kamal Adwan Hospital comes amid increasing global pressure on Israel to free its director, Hussam Abu Safia. The Palestinian doctor has been held arbitrarily by Israel for over 18 months without charge or trial. His lawyers warn his life is in immediate danger.
Earlier this week, UN experts demanded the release of Abu Safia and all other arbitrarily detained healthcare workers.
Israel stated on Friday that Abu Safia’s detention was lawful and rejected claims that he suffers from a life-threatening condition.
According to Israel’s diplomatic mission in Geneva on X, Abu Safia “is lawfully detained by Israel based on concrete intelligence,” accusing him of Hamas membership.
The mission added, “At no stage of his detention has he exhibited any indication of a life-threatening condition.”
Israel has been documented repeatedly providing false justification for killing Palestinian civilians. In April of the prior year, Israeli officials changed their account of the killing of 15 Palestinian medics after video evidence contradicted initial claims. The military later acknowledged professional failures and breaches of orders.
Since launching its assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 73,110 Palestinians. At least 1,084 Palestinians have died since the ceasefire ostensibly began last October.
