Israeli Forces Prepare to Initiate Pilot Withdrawal from Southern Lebanon

Israeli forces are set to commence the inaugural phase of their withdrawal from southern Lebanon as soon as Sunday, following a newly signed framework agreement between Beirut and Tel Aviv, according to Israeli media.

The withdrawal is anticipated to start in one of the two “pilot zones” outlined in the agreement, according to Israel’s public broadcaster KAN.

KAN added that no official details regarding the specific locations or timetable have yet been disclosed.

The agreement also stipulates the establishment of a direct communication channel between Israel and Lebanon.

The agreement was signed on Thursday, drawing on U.S. mediation, and outlines a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, commencing with the two pilot areas.
