Israeli forces arrested five Palestinians during raids on homes in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office.
In a statement, the non-governmental organization said troops searched residences in Burin, a town south of Nablus, detaining four young men. A fifth individual was taken into custody at the Qalandiya refugee camp, located north of East Jerusalem.
The operations are part of a pattern of near-daily Israeli military incursions across the West Bank. Rights groups have reported that such raids frequently involve assaults on family members and damage to household property.
According to Palestinian figures, approximately 9,350 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including 350 children and 90 women. Human rights organizations allege that torture, starvation, and medical neglect have contributed to dozens of deaths in custody.
Israel has intensified military operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October 2023. This escalation has coincided with a significant rise in Israeli settler violence. Palestinian media reports indicate that more than 1,220 Palestinians have been killed, roughly 13,350 wounded, and over 26,000 arrested in the West Bank during this period.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) documented 397 settler attacks resulting in casualties or property damage between October 1 and 26 — the highest monthly total recorded since 2006. During the final week of that reporting period, October 20 to 26, OCHA recorded 62 such attacks across 49 West Bank communities, 38 of which were linked to the olive harvest.
Settler violence and increasing access restrictions have also displaced 24 Palestinian herding families — comprising 94 people, including 40 children — from Khirbet Ras Al-Ahmar in the Tubas governorate, the agency reported.
