The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that nine Israelis were safely recovered after an emergency operation in the West Bank village of Mukhmas, following a suspected kidnapping or security incident.
At around 4:00 a.m., the IDF got a tip that a car carrying nine Israelis had entered Mukhmas while being chased by police.
The vehicle came under attack by Palestinian militants; upon arrival, the IDF found the car damaged but empty.
During the search, a local civilian alerted security forces that all nine occupants had left the village safely after abandoning the car.
The IDF continued to search the surrounding area to ensure no security threats remained.
Separately, Judea and Samaria Police rescued an IDF soldier from the West Bank town of Tarqumiyah last week after Palestinian Authority security forces reported a uniformed man handcuffed in the town centre.
The soldier, who hails from southern Israel and serves in the IDF, was brought to the Hebron police station.
A preliminary inquiry determined the soldier was unarmed.
Investigators believe the case is criminal, not motivated by nationalism or terrorism.
Both cases echo recent months’ reports of Israelis entering Area A of the West Bank and subsequently being rescued.
