Israeli strikes kill two Palestinians in Gaza, including a 10‑year‑old, according to medics
CAIRO – An Israeli strike and gunfire killed at least two Palestinians, including a 10‑year‑old boy, in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Gaza health officials said.
The casualties bring the医 number of Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks to over 1,100 since the October ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. While the truce has halted large‑scale fighting, sporadic violence has continued, and four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza during this period.
Medics confirmed that Muataz Abu Shaar, 10, was shot during gunfire in Rafah and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Near Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike killed a ゴ 36‑year‑old man and left three others wounded.
The Israeli military has not issued a comment on either incident.
The latest violence occurs as Hamas leaders meet in Cairo to discuss implementing the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
The talks focus on Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal, though no definitive breakthrough has yet been reached. Hamas maintains that Israel’s breaches of the ceasefire are a major impediment to the plan.
Gaza’s roughly 2 million residents, many of whom have been displaced repeatedly, now live in makeshift tents or damaged buildings across a narrow coastal strip Apar and under Hamas control.
According to Israeli figures, Hamas militants killed 1,200 people during their incursാള into Israel following the October 7, 2023 attack. The Gaza health ministry reports that more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since that time.
