Caglianone downplayed a sore right ankle that temporarily sidelined him during the Royals’ 9-7 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday.

During his at-bat, he recorded one hit but was struck by a pitch before pinch-hitter John Rave took over in the fifth inning.

Post-game, Caglianone attributed the discomfort to a persistent nagging sensation, stating via MLB.com, “It’s been bothering me a bit for a while now. I felt it more today during my run, so I’m being cautious. … Not too worried about it—should be back in action shortly.”

Royals manager Matt Quatraro echoed the caution, noting, “We’re taking it step by step to avoid any larger issues.”

This season, Caglianone has maintained a strong performance, batting .279 with a .332 on-base percentage, a .495 slugging percentage, 22 home runs, and 60 RBIs across 119 games.

He’s also been on a three-week hot streak, recording 32 hits in 77 at-bats (.416) with six home runs and 23 RBIs over his last 20 games.

The 23-year-old Tampa native has alternated between right field and first base throughout the year.
