Jack Osbourne has provided an update on the upcoming film about his father, Ozzy Osbourne. In an interview with E! News, Jack confirmed that the screenplay is complete and that the movie will be tailored to fan expectations.
“We’re actively talking to directors,” he said. “It’s gung ho.” He also mentioned that the team is discussing casting for the role of Ozzy, who passed away at age 76 last year. “I’m not allowed to say, but conversations have been had,” Jack added. “And if it all works out, it’s gonna be awesome.”
Since his father’s death, Jack has been involved in various family projects, including the development of an Ozzy AI avatar and a feature film chronicling Ozzy’s life and career in partnership with Sony.
Jack emphasized that his guiding principle is simple: “Give the fans what they want.” He explained that this mantra influences all decisions within the family business, echoing his father’s dedication to his audience through music and tours.
He stressed that the collaboration with Sony means the film will avoid an “artsy, esoteric biopic” approach, as that would not align with what fans desire. “We’re not going down that route—for many reasons,” he said.

The biopic has been in development since before Ozzy’s death. In 2021, the rocker announced that screenwriter Lee Hall was penning the film, described as a chronicle of “the extraordinary life of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, and the great love story between him and his wife, Sharon.”
Sharon serves as a producer on the project. When the film was announced, she said, “Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together. We’re thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen.”
During a 2024 episode of *The Osbournes Podcast*, Ozzy offered a candid reflection on the project’s timeline. “By the time they finish this film, I’ll be dead,” he said. “I wanna be alive to fucking see it.” Sharon added, “Movies take forever to make.”
