LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 13: Jannik Sinner of Italy lifts the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy following his victory against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain during the Gentlemen’s Singles Final on day fourteen of The Championships Wimbledon 2025 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 13, 2025 in London, England. Jannik Sinner is a strong favorite to complete the career Grand Slam at the French Open.
How significant is his favoritism as the world’s top‑ranked player?
According to Sportico, Sinner is the heaviest men’s favorite at any Grand Slam since Rafael Nadal in 2009.
Sinner is listed at -275 to win the French Open, while Nadal, who ended his career with 14 Roland Garros titles, was -400 in 2009.
“He’s going for his Golden Slam as well here if I’m not mistaken,” 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic said Saturday. “He’s maybe in the form of his life, and without Carlos [Alcaraz] being here also increases his chances even more of claiming more Grand Slam titles.”
“So we’re all here to try to win against him and prevent him from taking more titles.”
Sinner’s opening match is set for Monday against France’s Clement Tabur.
Fresh off his Italian Open victory on May 17, he has recorded a 29-match winning streak and is one of only two men, alongside Djokovic, to have captured all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles.
“He sort of looks unplayable and unbeatable these days,” Casper Ruud said of Sinner ahead of the Rome final. “But you have to just think, he is human, too…When you keep winning and winning, you will get closer to that first loss in a while. You just hope, whenever I show up, that will be the day. But I guess I just have to think that raising your level one level is not going to be enough against this guy; you have to raise it two, three or four times and then see if you can hang with him from there. If I want to have a chance to beat him, I will have to play my best match of the year, and let’s try to do that.”
