TOKYO — Business-appropriate shorts are gaining acceptance in Japanese offices as apparel manufacturers respond to intensifying summer heat. Sanyo Shokai, a major clothing retailer, reported sales of its business-casual shorts exceeding initial targets by 20 percent, underscoring a shift in workplace dress codes driven by climate adaptation.
