Although Jared Verse spent only two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, he quickly emerged as a leader in the locker room. The outspoken pass rusher earned strong respect and admiration from his teammates, a reputation that has persisted during his early tenure with the Cleveland Browns.
Just over a month after the Rams completed the trade, Verse has already made a strong first impression with his new team. Defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com that Verse has integrated seamlessly, appearing as though he has been with the Browns for five years.
Cesaire recalled his first conversation with Verse on the final day of mandatory minicamp, asking what he expected to accomplish. Verse replied, “I want to work so hard that everyone around me benefits.” He added, “I’m a team-first player,” noting that adjusting to a new environment will be challenging for everyone.
Alex Wright, who has spent his entire career with Myles Garrett, noted the surprising speed with which Verse has integrated, saying it feels as though Verse has been part of the group for five years. He praised Verse’s leadership, development potential, and eagerness to improve, expressing excitement about their collaborative growth.
Verse told Andrew Siciliano that, immediately after learning of his trade to the Browns, he began studying film of his new teammates, including tape of top linebacker Carson Schwesinger—the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year—and Alex Wright.
He expressed enthusiasm about what he observed and looked forward to getting started.
Verse is known for his powerful bull rush, but the Browns plan to incorporate additional pass‑rush techniques to broaden his repertoire. Cesaire is confident that these enhancements will produce a spectacular performance.
Cesaire noted that Verse already possesses a solid repertoire, and the team will add a few new variations. He emphasized Verse’s aggressive, violent style, his speed, and his expectation that the upcoming practices will be impressive.
While there is considerable excitement surrounding Myles Garrett in Los Angeles, the Rams face a challenge in losing Verse, a formidable player both on the field and as a respected locker‑room presence.
