Jaxson Dart Ruled Out for 2026 Season with Knee Injury

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will miss the entire 2026 NFL campaign after sustaining a severe knee injury.

The injury occurred during the opening possession of Monday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, where his left leg buckled awkwardly upon impact from two defenders.

Although initially assessed as a potential medial collateral ligament issue, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed on Tuesday that the evaluation was still underway.

An MRI scan ultimately revealed damage to the medial collateral ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, and meniscus, as reported by NFL Network.

Harbaugh had been scheduled to speak with reporters following Wednesday’s practice session.

The loss of the 23-year-old quarterback represents a major setback during Harbaugh’s inaugural season at the helm, which kicked off with a home victory over Dallas in Week 1.

Jameis Winston is expected to assume the starting quarterback duties, beginning Sunday against Tennessee.

The Giants’ next five opponents have a combined 2-8 record. Winston is 3-9 in 12 NFL starts since 2024.

Winston and Jake Haener, who is on the practice squad, were the only QBs at practice during the portion open to reporters.

Haener, who played in eight games and started one for New Orleans two seasons ago, joined midway through training camp and stuck around over journeyman Brandon Allen.

Edge rusher Brian Burns, who sprained his left ankle late in the Rams game, was not on the field.

No 1 receiver Malik Nabers, who popped his shoulder back into place and returned Monday night, and starting left tackle Andrew Thomas, who limped off with a groin injury, were participating in the unpadded session.
