Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has clearly become an avid supporter of the Twisted Teens. On September 11, he released a cover of the New Orleans duo’s song “Wild Connection,” which is featured on their February album Blame the Clown. The track is available for listening on his Substack page.
Reflecting on the cover in a brief essay, Tweedy praised bandleader Caspian Hollywell’s vocal abilities, admitting he “had trouble not trying to sing like him.” He explained, “One of the reasons I frequently cover songs is that I find it valuable to hear something I enjoy and then see what it feels like to try it on, almost like clothes.” He added, “With this particular track, I think I still sound like myself. I actually feel like I might be channeling a younger version of myself.”
This is not the first time Tweedy has shared covers on his Substack; in February, he posted a rendition of Cameron Winter’s “Love Takes Miles” as a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife. Earlier in the year, he concluded a headlining tour in support of his album Twilight Override, created a New York Times crossword puzzle, and made two appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Looking ahead, the Twisted Teens are preparing to release their third album of 2026, The Holy Cross Tigers, on November 6. This upcoming record follows their July LP Florida Water Blues and will mark the band’s debut on their new label, Sub Pop.
