Jerquaden Guilford Earns Buckeye Brotherhood Status as Black Stripe Removed

Another Ohio State football black stripe has been lifted, this time honoring a promising freshman wide receiver. Jerquaden Guilford, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was recognized Thursday in a brief ceremony that removed his black stripe, unveiling the scarlet stripe on his silver lid as he officially joins the Buckeye “brotherhood.”

Guilford arrived in Columbus with an impressive high‑school resume from Northrop High School. The 247Sports composite rankings listed him as the No. 6 wide receiver and the 45th overall prospect in the 2026 class. His addition bolsters an already deep and talented receiving corps, and he is expected to compete for early playing time.

“I just want to say thank you, Jesus, first of all. Without him, I wouldn’t be here,” Guilford said. “I wanna say thank you to BIA (Best in America) for making me better every day. To the coaching staff, Coach Mick (Mickey Mariotti) creating the standard for me. I ain’t have that at home, so creating that standard for me. Coach Day for bringing me out here, and just thank you to all y’all for making it feel like a brotherhood. Buckeyes!”

Guilford’s induction adds to the growing list of black stripe removals throughout the 2026 calendar, spanning spring and fall camp. Additional players are likely to receive the honor before the season opener on September 5 against Ball State at home.
