New York Jets defensive lineman David Onyemata has been placed on injured reserve following core muscle surgery, head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Wednesday. The veteran lineman sustained the injury during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Glenn indicated the team anticipates Onyemata returning to action later this season. The Jets signed Onyemata as a free agent this offseason after he accumulated 154 games of experience with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.
In a separate update, Glenn announced that wide receiver Arian Smith will miss the remainder of the campaign after undergoing ACL surgery.
