Jets Reevaluate Kicking Strategy Following Sanders’ Weekend Blunders

Although the Jets seemingly concluded their kicking search by releasing Cade York this week, Jason Sanders’ underwhelming performance on Friday evening has reopened the door for competition.

Sanders botched an extra point following a first-quarter touchdown and shanked a field goal in the fourth quarter. Consequently, head coach Aaron Glenn now faces the question of whether the team should seek additional kicking help ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the Titans.

“I wasn’t thrilled about missing those field goals, but we aren’t going to panic,” Glenn stated in a team transcript. “We will make the proper decision to either correct these issues or acquire the right talent. However, Jason has been solid for us and in practice, so I will evaluate everything before determining our next direction.”

Sanders previously played seven seasons with the Dolphins before sitting out the entire previous campaign due to a hip injury.
