Chelsea striker Joao Pedro is expected to consult a knee specialist in the coming days as the club works to accelerate his recovery from a swelling-related knee issue, according to Standard Sport.
The Brazil international has been in strong form for the west London side this season, but he is currently sidelined with swelling in his knee.
The injury kept him out of Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat at Brentford, and his availability when competitive fixtures resume next month remains uncertain.
Brazil’s national team staff indicated that he needs around three weeks of rest, prompting Chelsea to arrange specialist input to support a quicker recovery.
Chelsea have begun the Premier League campaign with just seven points from five matches and will need a significant improvement next month.
The schedule offers little relief, with Bournemouth, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Sunderland all to come in their next five league games.
They also face a demanding League Cup fourth-round tie at Liverpool.
