Former WWE talent Joe Gacy will now use the ring name Joseph Sawyer following his departure from the company, an announcement made in conjunction with an upcoming Wyatt Sicks reunion.
Gacy was among 25 individuals released by WWE on April 24. This round of talent cuts included other members of the Wyatt Sicks—Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, and Nikki Cross—effectively concluding the group’s nearly two-year run on the main roster. All released talents are subject to a 90-day non-compete clause before they are free to sign with other promotions.
Before joining WWE in 2021, Gacy performed on the independent circuit under his familiar “Joe Gacy” moniker, which he maintained throughout his WWE tenure. However, since WWE now owns the trademark for “Joe Gacy,” he is unable to use that name independently. His new identity, Joseph Sawyer, was revealed as part of the Wyatt Sicks’ reunion plans.
WrestleCon recently announced via social media that all five members of the Wyatt Sicks will appear at this summer’s event in Minneapolis. While a collective group name was not provided, the participants were identified by their real names or new ring names: Taylor Rotunda (Howdy), Erick Redbeard (Rowan), Samuel Shaw (Lumis), Joseph Sawyer (Gacy), and Nikki Storm (Cross).
