Joffrey Baratheon Returns as ‘Protector of the Realm’ in Game of Thrones: Legends

Joffrey Baratheon, arguably one of the most loathsome and hateable characters in the entire Game of Thrones universe, is back from the grave to torment players once again. Portrayed masterfully by Jack Gleeson, Joffrey earned his reputation as one of television’s most despised villains, delivering every sneer, tantrum, and cruel outburst with an unmatched mix of unbearable tension and unmissable charisma. His pivotal actions, such as ordering the execution of Ned Stark, relentlessly humiliating Sansa, and tormenting Tyrion, drove audience hatred to new heights season after season. In Game of Thrones: Legends, Joffrey Baratheon is officially returning as a Legendary Champion variant titled “Protector of the Realm,” available to players starting September 16. This new version of the character brings the “Severity Is The Price Of Greatness” skill, which “ensures no assault against House Lannister goes unpunished.”

When Joffrey or a Lannister ally is struck by an enemy Skill, the offender is marked with Joffrey’s Scorn. Joffrey then deals boosted Physical Damage and inflicts Wounded when landing Critical Strikes on marked targets. Furthermore, receiving a Skill Heal from an ally increases Joffrey’s Critical Strike Chance until he unleashes his next Skill Crit.

The release of “Protector of the Realm” is part of a broader lineup of updates for September in Game of Thrones: Legends. Alongside Joffrey, two other iconic characters are receiving unique Champion variants: Melisandre as “The Red Woman” and the beloved Egg from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms appearing as “The Bald Boy Squire.”

Players can also anticipate two new Summons arriving this month: “The Hand of the King” officially bringing back Ned Stark, and “The Lady Of Bear Island” featuring Lyanna Mormont. Additionally, a new Legend Trial titled “A Blood Debt” featuring Oberyn Martell will kick off on September 12.
