John Cena joined Busted Open Radio last week to discuss his career and recent developments. During the segment, host Dave LaGreca posed questions regarding Cody Rhodes’s performance as a premier talent, referencing the “QB1” moniker.

Cena conveyed his stance that Cody Rhodes would benefit from moving beyond the “QB1” nickname. In his explanation, he observed, “Though we sing ‘It’s the franchise, boy. I’m shining now,’ I interpret this as reflecting a broader team effort. Moreover, with periodic shifts in ring alignment and roster adjustments, such positioning naturally follows collective progress rather than serving as an aspirational benchmark.”

Continuing his remarks, Cena added, “Even if I rate the achievements associated with Cody—indeed, his successes are notable—and whether I fully align with every accomplishment matters less than the principle: concentrate on delivering quality work. Reducing external pressure supports sustained excellence.”

Additionally, Cena voiced concerns that both Rhodes and CM Punk tend to place excessive expectations on themselves. Regarding Punk, he noted that his fixation on securing a primary main‑event slot at WrestleMania suggests an underlying vulnerability.

The athlete also appears in Matchbox: The Movie alongside Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, and Teyonah Parris, with premiere scheduled for October 9 across Apple TV.
