In a concise session at the capital’s primary defense installation, leading representatives emphasized the necessity of strengthening military partnerships to safeguard peace and stability across the region.

U.S. Army Central Chair Lt. Gen. Kevin Leahy highlighted the kingdom’s indispensable contributions to global security arrangements, describing the Jordanian armed forces as playing a pivotal role in bolstering both domestic and international safeguards.

As a steadfast U.S. ally in the Middle East, Jordan presently hosts approximately 4,000 American service members across multiple bases, including Muwaffāq Salti Air Base nearby Azraq. Iranian-aligned proxy forces have executed repeated drone and missile strikes against the installation, resulting in the deaths of two American personnel following an assault in July.

Maj. Gen. Al‑Harasis was sworn in as Jordan’s national chief of staff by King Abdullah on September 2, succeeding the retiring Lt. Gen. Yousef Huneiti.
