Jorge Martin Abandons Arm Pump Surgery After Strong Austrian Grand Prix Performance

World Championship Leader Jorge Martin confirms he will not proceed with arm pump surgery in the immediate future.

Following the Aprilia rider’s robust run through a physically demanding Austrian Grand Prix without any major recurrence of the issue that previously crippled him at Misano, this decision is in order.

“Perhaps tension at Misano impacted my focus. Definitely, some cause limited my output,” Martin said after placing second behind Pedro Acosta.

“Immediately on Friday I felt buoyant by my ride. Either my technique has improved, or my therapeutic protocol is finally paying off,” he further explained.

“That marks progress for my campaign. Going forward I will not seek surgery tomorrow—I will work to maintain this cadence.”

Undeterred by the prospect of four rapid‑track events—beginning with the Japanese Grand Prix in two weeks—Martin doubled down on his preference to defer any operative intervention, a stance sensible after years of prolonged hospitalisation during his injury‑laden 2025 season.

“At this stage I will not undergo surgery. I’ll gauge when the timing is right and ascertain the most optimal course—repeating the strategy I implemented previously.”

This milestone signifies progress for my campaign. Going forward I will refrain from elective surgery; instead I’ll concentrate on intensive recovery and sustained performance.

“I am certain I can maximise the benefits of my present condition and compete aggressively for the title.”

The champion, who seized a 12‑point lead over Marc Marquez after edging out his compatriot at the weekend start, signalled that definitive surgery may become essential at a more strategic juncture.

“For now I will not proceed with surgery. I will determine the appropriate moment and select the best possible option—paralleling my historical approach.”
