Josh Homme is slated to appear on Channel 4’s reality series Celebrity Gogglebox.
The show assembles a roster of well‑known personalities who share candid insights while watching various programmes, news broadcasts and films. Season 8 is currently airing on Channel 4, with new episodes every Friday.
The announcement on Thursday, 16 July confirms that Homme will feature on the episode airing Friday, 17 July.
Homme will sit on the sofa alongside Scissor Sisters vocalist and actor Jake Shears, a longtime friend. The pair previously collaborated when Homme produced a cameo in Shears’ 2018 solo single “Big Bushy Mustache”, and Shears later contributed to Homme’s “Desert Sessions…”.
An announcement post titled “Meet friends (and rock legends) Jake and Josh” accompanied a preview image of the duo in front of a television set.
“Celebrity Gogglebox” will broadcast the new episode at 9 pm BST on Channel 4, and it will later be available on the network’s on‑demand platform.
Season 8 has also featured regulars such as Shaun Ryder, Bez of Happy Mondays, former Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton, Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet, and The Inbetweeners star James Buckley.
Previous seasons have showcased artists including Liam and Noel Gallagher, Yungblud, Self Esteem, Mel C, Sam Ryder, and Tom Grennan.
Homme’s appearance follows Queens of the Stone Age’s release of “Easy Street” – theacije’ first single since the 2023 album In Times New Roman… – debuted live during their Catacombs tour last autumn.
QOTSA are currently opening for System of a Down on their UK and European stadium dates, with shows at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday, 13 July, and Wednesday, 15 July.
Earlier in the tour, the band revisited deeper cuts from their 2007 album Era Vulgaris, including the first live performance of “Run, Pig, Run” since 2008.
Later this summer, QOTSA will open for the Foo Fighters on the North American leg of their “Take Cover” stadium tour, and they have secured a debut Icelandic show in October.
In 2024, the group delivered a stripped‑back set within the historic Parisian Catacombs, which was captured for the accompanying concert film and live album Alive in the Catacombs. NME awarded the release a four‑star review, praising it as a “moving and meditative concert doc”.
In 2024, Homme pledged to “roll his sleeves up” so fans wouldn’t wait long for the next Queens of the Stone Age record, marking a stark contrast to the six‑year interval between 2017’s “Villains” and 2023’s In Times New Roman….
In late 2023, Homme and bandmate Dean Fertita discussed the group’s road ahead with NME, noting a renewed urgency for new material.
Homme said, “I think we should be making something. The mantra of the last five years has been, ‘It won’t be long now!’ That should translate to making things too, faster and better.”
