Josh Jacobs again conveyed deep remorse on Wednesday regarding the violent altercation that resulted in his six-game absence from the Green Bay Packers lineup.

Fresh off his removal from the commissioner’s exempt list, Jacobs addressed reporters inside the Green Bay locker room, stating he was “sorry for putting this team in this situation.”

“Sometimes when you go through life, situations occur,” the 28-year-old running back said. “And a four-second, three-second decision can alter your life, honestly.”

Jacobs was barred from practicing or playing for the Packers in August following two criminal charges stemming from a May altercation with his girlfriend at his Wisconsin residence.

Authorities alleged Jacobs “grabbed” the woman in his garage and “threw her to the ground,” causing injury. They also accused him of breaking her phone during the dispute.

On Sept. 10, he pleaded no contest to one count of battery and one count of criminal damage to property. During the plea proceedings, Jacobs stated in court that he was taking “full responsibility” for his actions.

On Wednesday, he reiterated those sentiments during his media availability.

“I’m still a human being, man,” he said. “Still trying to learn. Still trying to grow from the whole process.

“Actually learned a lot throughout this process. Legally and just personally. But, yeah, man. Going forward just try to be better.”

Head coach Matt LaFleur also addressed the situation with reporters Wednesday, offering support for his Pro Bowl running back for the second time in recent months.

“I do believe he is a good person,” LaFleur said of Jacobs. “I’ve been around him quite a bit. I believe in second chances.”

The Packers, who went 4-2 in Jacobs’ absence, have not yet clarified how extensively the running back will feature in their upcoming matchup against the Lions at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday.
