[Josh Jacobs Sues to Block Release of Altercation Video]
The NFL seeks disclosure of the video from the altercation that led to Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleading no‑contest to battery charges. Jacobs insists the footage must remain unavailable to the league.
According to ESPN correspondent Rob Demovsky, Jacobs has filed a civil lawsuit demanding a court order that permanently barrs access to records from the May 23 incident.
In his complaint, Jacobs states that the woman involved wishes to safeguard her privacy, dignity, personal security, emotional well‑being, and safe participation in the criminal justice process. He contends that redaction limited to names or faces is insufficient, noting that advanced artificial‑intelligence tools could reconstruct her identity from physical characteristics alone.
He further alleges that releasing the video would expose private details of his residence—configurations, entrances, exits, doors, windows, secure areas, and overall security measures—that could be exploited to determine whether the garage or house could be entered without authorization. While such disclosure is understandable, it simultaneously prevents the NFL from viewing the material in order to enforce its Personal Conduct Policy. Consequently, Jacobs urges the league to grant unconditional access to the recording prior to taking disciplinary action.
