Following a turbulent period for Celtic, the final whistle at Fir Park on Sunday brought much‑needed relief to frustrated supporters.

Having lost three matches in a row prior to the international break—including two defeats to rivals Rangers—Martin O’Neill’s Celtic bounced back with a deserved 2‑0 victory over Motherwell, reclaiming the top spot in the Scottish Premiership.

Camilo Duran opened the scoring early for the visitors, and midfielder Benjamin Nygren sealed the win with a second‑half goal.

Besides the solid performance and result, influential winger Jota marked his long‑awaited comeback after nearly 18 months sidelined, leading the post‑match celebrations for the Portuguese international.

Introduced as a 74th‑minute substitute, Jota nearly set up a teammate with his first involvement in an energetic cameo.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” he told Sky Sports. “I’m just happy to be back. I’ve worked hard, and the teammates have helped me too. It was only the usual nerves, but once I stepped onto the pitch everything felt right.”

The 27‑year‑old was questioned about the mental strain of his lengthy absence.

“It’s like someone took away my child and I finally got him back today—that’s how I’ve felt over the past year,” he said.

“I’ve found my child again today, and I want to hold onto him for as long as possible.”

“I’m feeling great and I’m eager to play more, help the team, and I know what I’m capable of.”
