JPEGMAFIA Removes “Tsar Bomba” From Album Following Legal Dispute With Chicago Band
Experimental rapper JPEGMAFIA unveiled his latest album, Experimental Rap, last week. True to his signature style, the record incorporates heavily manipulated samples such as Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” in “Lights” and Lil Scrappy’s “Money In The Bank” in “¥ (Yen).”
A dispute involving We Weren’t Invited’s “Personality Collector” prompted JPEGMAFIA to announce changes to Experimental Rap. In “Tsar Bomba,” an energetic tracks, the artist incorporated elements from the lesser-recognized Chicago screamo band’s 2022 track. This sample triggered criticism on Reddit alleging credentials were invalid, leading JPEGMAFIA to remove the track from streaming platforms through contractual licensing agreements.
Digital licensing negotiations documented on Instagram revealed We Weren’t Invited requested $2,000 and 20% royalty rights versus JPEGMAFIA’s initial proposal of $2,000 plus 10% royalties for contractual intellectual property management. The visual negotiation evidence displayed explicit financial terms required by We Weren’t Invited for proper approval standards.

JPEGMAFIA deactivated his Twitter account after addressing controversy through pinned posts specifically annotated with metadata addressing net proceeds standards. The album’s business model demonstrates updated licensing protocols now enforced through AWAL management systems. Experimental Rap remains available through official audio pipelines maintaining compliant metadata practices following these production copyright resolutions.
Experimental Rap is out now on AWAL.
