JSCL has sanctioned an additional investment of Rs86.96 million in EFU Life Assurance Limited, expanding its equity stake in the insurance firm. The investment will be executed by subscribing to 8.69 million right shares at Rs10 per share, contingent upon shareholder approval scheduled for November 6.
The proposed transaction, valued at Rs86,963,390, received the board’s approval on October 14, 2026, as disclosed in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). The investment underscores JSCL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its strategic position in the life insurance sector through long-term equity investments.
While the company’s board has authorized the subscription, the transaction remains pending formal shareholder ratification. JSCL intends to convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) in Islamabad on November 6, 2026, to seek shareholder endorsement under Section 199 of the Companies Act, 2017.
The additional capital allocation highlights JSCL’s role as a strategic investor, focusing on managing long-term investments, securities trading, and consultancy services. Notably, the announcement does not disclose the cumulative value of JSCL’s current holdings in EFU Life or the projected ownership percentage post-investment.
The transaction’s completion hinges on the outcome of the November EGM, where shareholders will determine whether the proposed share subscription can proceed. Until such approval is secured, the Rs86.96 million commitment remains subject to formal validation.
