Julianne Moore to Receive Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award

[Julianne Moore Honors Golden Icon Award at 22nd Zurich Film Festival]

Julianne Moore is set to receive the Golden Icon Award at the 22nd Zurich Film Festival, accepting the honor alongside fellow performer Jesse Eisenberg, who is directing her in his latest feature The Debut, a musical‑comedy co‑starring Paul Giamatti.

Across a distinguished career of more than three decades, Moore has partnered with several of contemporary cinema’s most renowned directors, including Robert Altman on Short Cuts, Paul Thomas Anderson on Boogie Nights and Magnolia, the Coen brothers on The Big Lebowski, and Todd Haynes on Safe, Far From Heaven, and May December.

this year’s Zurich Film Festival honors Moore with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her illustrious career and a prominent lead role in The Debut, which will be featured at the festival. The film follows Mona Friedman (Moore) as she is cast in a minor capacity at a small community theater and evolves from a reticent, ordinary housewife into a driven methodactress willing to risk everything to safeguard the artistic integrity of her modest role—particularly against the assertive direction of Giamatti.

Among her celebrated roles are Still Alice, which earned her an Oscar, as well as The Hours and The Kids Are All Right. Recent projects include Apple TV’s Echo Valley, Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door, and the Netflix limited series Sirens. Looking ahead, Moore returns to the stage to portray the titular role in the Off‑Broadway production of Faydra.

Past Golden Icon laureates encompass Kate Winslet, Sylvester Stallone, and Sharon Stone. The 22nd edition of the festival runs from September 24 to October 4.
