Justin Bieber has been added to the star-studded lineup for the inaugural FIFA World Cup halftime show in New York. The Canadian pop star will take the stage alongside Madonna, Shakira, and the K-pop group BTS on July 19 for the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime performance.

The 11-minute show will also feature performances by Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, and the Sesame Street Muppets. All proceeds from the halftime show will benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million for children’s education worldwide.

“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can,” Bieber said. This appearance marks his return to major live performances following his appearance at Coachella this spring, his largest stage show in four years after canceling his Justice World Tour due to health issues.

The halftime show is curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Meanwhile, Shakira and Burna Boy, who previously opened the tournament across North American host nations, will also return to perform. Their hit single “Dai Dai” has been a dominant chart success and a regular feature at matches since the tournament began on June 11 with 48 teams across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

The quarterfinals are underway with matches scheduled in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Kansas City. Argentina’s Lionel Messi leads the Golden Boot race with eight goals, followed by France’s Kylian Mbappé and Norway’s Erling Haaland with seven goals each, and England’s Harry Kane with six.
