Justin Vernon Scores a Jingle for Howards Bar’s Meatloaf Dippers

Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has recorded a surprisingly catchy meatloaf-themed jingle for Howards Bar, a Minnesota bar and grill opened in 2023 by musician Caroline Smith and her chef husband. The upbeat track accompanies an animated promotional spot illustrated by Nick Stokes, spotlighting the restaurant’s meatloaf dippers.

The dish takes dense meatloaf covered in sauce, then bakes, slices, breads, and deep-fries it until the pieces are crisp on the outside and rich within. Vernon’s lyrics lean into the comfort-food appeal: “Meatloaf dippers at Howard’s in Stillwater / Meatloaf dippers can be a whole meal or starter / Meatloaf dippers, oh so light and yummy / Go on and warm your tummy, with dippers.” Pitchfork has contacted the bar’s owners for more information.
