Kacey Musgraves Pulls Plug on Three Additional Tour Dates Without Public Explanation

Kacey Musgraves has canceled three dates from her upcoming “Middle Of Nowhere” tour without providing a public rationale.

The country artist was scheduled to kick off the tour with back-to-back performances at Chicago’s United Center on August 20 and 21. The August 20 opening show has since been called off, along with stops at Boston’s TD Garden on August 29 and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on September 2.

All three affected dates were added to the tour schedule after its initial announcement. Musgraves is still scheduled to perform in Chicago on August 21, Boston on August 28, and New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 31 and September 1.

Ticketholders have been notified via email about the cancellations, with refund details provided. As of now, Musgraves has not publicly addressed the decision. The tour dates continue to be listed on her official website, with tickets still available for the remaining shows.

The tour supports her seventh studio album “Middle Of Nowhere,” released in May via Lost Highway Records. The project features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov. NME praised it as one of her “most thematically cohesive records,” noting its exploration of “a resolute sense of solitude…not quite loneliness but a choiceful, empowered singledom.”

Released in May, the album was highlighted in NME’s roundup of the best albums of 2026. Musgraves debuted tracks from the record during a surprise Coachella 2026 performance, her first at the festival since 2019. She also made headlines for going undercover in a giant armadillo costume to search for physical copies of the album and delivering an innuendo-laden performance of “Dry Spell” at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards.
