Kacey Musgraves has recorded a Spanish version of her Texas‑inspired track “Uncertain, TX” with the iconic Mexican band Intocable, marking her first fully Spanish‑language song.
The re‑recorded track deepens the song’s cumbia‑inflected vibe as Musgraves sings entirely in Spanish, sharing vocal duties with Intocable’s lead singer, Ricky Javier Muñoz. In a statement she expressed excitement about collaborating with the Texas‑based legends and celebrated the cultural blend that defines her home state.
Intocable have been shaping Mexican pop culture with their norteño hits since the early 1990s. The sextet continues to draw massive crowds, most recently performing for 300,000 fans at Mexico City’s Zócalo to celebrate Independence Day.
Although this is Musgraves’ first full Spanish‑language track, she has previously bridged country and regional Mexican sounds. Last year she teamed with Carin León on the bilingual “Lost in Translation,” noting her love for exploring the musical borders of Texas. “I’ve always loved exploring the borders of country music and where it blends with other styles like norteño,” she said.
Musgraves first delved into the borderland history of Texas on her album “Middle of Nowhere,” which featured “Uncertain, TX” among other tracks infused with música mexicana. The song became a Texas radio No. 1 and has now been re‑imagined for Spanish‑speaking audiences.
The new version arrives as Musgraves brings her “Middle of Nowhere” tour to her home state, with five shows slated for Houston, Dallas and Austin. It’s a timely celebration of her deep ties to Texas—and the vibrant cross‑cultural sound that continues to define her career.
