Bengaluru, June 1: D.K. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah lauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru following their second consecutive Indian Premier League title. The team secured a decisive victory over Gujarat in Sunday’s final, with both leaders commending the players, support staff, and fans for their dedication throughout the campaign.
Chief Minister-designate Shivakumar criticized the IPL organizers for relocating the final to Gujarat, arguing that Bengaluru should have hosted the match. He described the change as an injustice to Karnataka, suggesting political motivations behind the decision. “The IPL final should have been held in Bengaluru. Injustice has been done to us due to political reasons,” Shivakumar stated to reporters, while praising RCB’s consistent performance under pressure.
Shivakumar emphasized that RCB maintained their winning momentum from the previous season, calling the triumph a historic achievement. On social media, he wrote, “RCB has created history by clinching a second consecutive IPL title. With grit, composure, and the heart of true champions, the team has once again made Bengaluru proud.” He also highlighted the jubilation among supporters, stating, “Tonight, Bengaluru rises again as champions! This year too, the cup belongs to us.”
Siddaramaiah echoed similar sentiments on X, crediting RCB’s aggressive playing style as key to their success. He noted, “Throughout the tournament, the fearless brand of cricket displayed by the RCB boys left opposing teams with no answers.” He also urged fans to celebrate responsibly, reminding them to adhere to state police guidelines issued for post-match events.
