Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick delivered a hit on Browns wide receiver KC Concepcion on Sunday that resulted in a concussion and forced Concepcion out of the game. He has been diagnosed with his first concussion.
Fitzpatrick, who received a 15‑yard unnecessary roughness penalty, plans to appeal the NFL’s fine, insisting the contact was a legitimate “football play.”
Concepcion supports Fitzpatrick’s viewpoint.
“I know the game that I signed up to play,” Concepcion said Friday, as reported by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. “It’s a very physical sport. To me, it wasn’t a dirty hit—it was just a football play.”
After clearing concussion protocol on Friday, the rookie first‑round pick is set to return to action on Sunday.
“I thank the Lord for letting me get back up and walk off the field again,” Concepcion added. “I’m always smiling, dancing, cracking jokes. But I’m truly grateful to be able to play again.”
