Thrissur Titans lifted the KCL trophy with a dramatic finale, overtaking Calicut Globstars by four wickets to claim their inaugural championship after posting 169 for six from 19.3 overs.

Having chased 168 down, Thrissur’s resolve held steady as three balls remained, allowing Ahmed Imran to drive in a commanding half‑century while captain M.S. Akhil delivered precise strike‑rights to guide his side home.

Calicut elected to bat first after winning the toss, and captain Rohan Kunnummal immediately set out to build pressure on the Thrissur attack. He smashed 15 runs off the second over—including a six and two fours—before being dismissed for 21 after 17 deliveries.

Seeking a spark, Calicut leaned on the talents of Akhil Scaria and Ashwin Anand to post a 73‑run third‑wicket partnership, cutting Calicut’s tally to 167 for nine at the kill.

Their pace and spin pacers tightened their lines, restricting Calicut’s lower order from mounting a late surge.

Albeit leading low, the Titans faltered early as Rohan was hit for eight in the first over, and K.R. Rohith survived to the fourth before falling, forcing Thrissur onto an urgent recovery mission.

The turning point arrived when Ahmed Imran and Sanjeev Satheeen forged an immaterial 87‑run alliance, blending crisp shot selection with attacking strokes that reversed the momentum.

In the concluding over, Thrissur’s wickets fell rapidly, with Nikhil Thottath contributing fourteen runs and Mohammed Inan playing an unbeaten eight before each was bowled out. Despite two more collapses, the required run‑rate stayed untouched toward victory.

The final act involved captain M.S. Akhil, who remained unbeaten at 19 from eleven balls, steering his side past the finish line with three deliveries to spare. Calicut’s key wickets were snagged by Ibnul Aftab and Jose Perayil, each claiming a career knockout.
