KARACHI: Employees and officers of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) have initiated a “strong protest campaign” against the appointment of individuals from external government departments, asserting that these postings contravene judicial rulings and the authority’s service regulations.
Kicking off a series of demonstrations, protesters gathered at the KDA Civic Centre, chanting slogans opposing the recruitment of “external personnel.”
Banners criticizing the appointments were prominently displayed across the building. The protest was supported by representatives of the Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA), employee unions, and officers’ associations.
Protesters reported that over 15 officers and employees from other departments—including SCUG Services, trainee cadres, and town councils across Sindh districts—have been assigned to KDA without corresponding sanctioned positions under the authority’s Schedule of Establishment.
The demonstrators emphasized KDA’s autonomous status, arguing that such appointments defy Supreme Court directives on deputation and transfers.
