Kenny Omega solidified his status as AEW’s top contender following a high-stakes match against MJF on AEW Dynamite: Beach Break.

The deciding encounter, one of the most anticipated in AEW history, saw Omega face off against the reigning world champion. A loss for Omega would have erased his opportunity to challenge for the title again, raising the match’s significance exponentially.

Tension peaked in the final moments as MJF tried to regain control with his Dynamite Diamond Ring, only for Will Ospreay to intervene and remove the weapon. Omega seized the championship belt but opted against striking MJF, allowing MJF to retaliate with a low blow and a decisive title belt strike.

Despite the illegal maneuver, Omega showcased resilience by kicking out of the count at one. He quickly regrouped, landing three V-Triggers before executing the One Winged Angel to secure the three-count and claim the AEW World Championship.

The victory marks a pivotal moment for Omega, ending MJF’s third championship reign after 46 days. MJF had reclaimed the title from Darby Allin at AEW Double or Nothing 2026 in May.
