A Kenyan court has found Paul Mackenzie, the leader of the Good News International Church, guilty of murder for orchestrating the starvation deaths of 190 children and one adult. Mackenzie, along with 28 co-defendants, was convicted of ordering followers to starve themselves and their children to death under the pretext of meeting Jesus in heaven. The victims were discovered in mass graves in the Shakahola forest in Kilifi County, where the cult operated. The landmark ruling marks one of the worst cult-related atrocities in modern history.
