Kevin Nash Recalls nWo’s Organic Origins Over Planned Strategy

During a recent episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash offered insight into the formation of the New World Order (nWo) as the faction marked its 30th anniversary. Nash explained that he and Scott Hall quickly recognized flaws in Eric Bischoff’s initial vision, noting that the group’s iconic chemistry developed spontaneously rather than by design.

Initial Friction

“We’re getting ready to move forward, and it’s oil, it just doesn’t work. I’m sitting at a picnic table at Universal with Scott and Eric comes over, and we just looked at him with a look like, ‘Dude, this ain’t gonna work.’ We weren’t going to say anything, so we were just bookends in Daytona that night on the seventh, and then we went to Universal. Scott and I were up on top of the studios — the backstage thing was at Universal, or Disney, one of those Florida studios down there,” Nash recalled.

The Turning Point

“Eric wouldn’t have been around us cutting promos, so he wouldn’t have known — it wasn’t like he was going, ‘Wow, you really have to watch Scott, he can throw a cutter,’ or, ‘Nash will throw that split-legged finish.’ He didn’t really know what we did. Even though they might have thought they were going to come up with some gourmet food, that first time we all sat together, it was a big bowl of goulash. It just kind of came together organically,” he added.
