In his fourth NFL franchise, quarterback Kirk Cousins has made a substantial early impact with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Cousins has already matched 49ers signal‑caller Brock Purdy with 11 touchdown passes in four games, tying for the league lead. A further three scores this Sunday versus the New England Patriots would vault him into an elite group of just two quarterbacks.

NBC Sports research shows that only Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Kurt Warner (Rams) have ever thrown 14 or more touchdown passes in their first five games with a new franchise. Both eventually captured MVP honors in that season.

If Cousins sustains this pace, he will enter the MVP discussion, potentially becoming the first 38‑year‑old to win the award—just one year after 37‑year‑old Matthew Stafford claimed his first MVP honor.

Much remains to be decided. A victory in New England this Sunday—coming on the heels of the Raiders’ first loss of the season—would bolster Cousins’s campaign.
