The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has instructed deputy commissioners and the Private Schools Regulatory Authority to initiate legal proceedings against private schools that continue to operate during the extreme heat despite the announced summer vacation.
According to a notice from the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, observations via social media and other channels indicate that certain institutions are summoning students for academic activities, contravening the government’s directive.
The notice warns that holding classes under such severe weather conditions could endanger students’ health.
It urges the Managing Director of PSRA and all deputy commissioners to enforce the directive through consistent monitoring and inspections of both private and public schools.
It adds that any violations will attract stringent disciplinary and legal measures in line with existing regulations.
In compliance with the education department’s order, PSRA has directed that no private school remain open or invite students for academic or co‑curricular activities after June 30.
