PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday condemned Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks concerning martyrs as regrettable and inappropriate.

The governor emphasized that the nation remains united in supporting the armed forces and security institutions in counter-terrorism efforts, as stated in an official release.

Speaking at the inauguration of the male outpatient department (OPD) at the Pakistan Red Crescent Basic Health Unit in Peshawar’s Bara Gate, Mr. Kundi honored the sacrifices of Pakistan’s military and security personnel in the fight against terrorism, affirming the province’s solidarity with security forces.

He highlighted that sustained peace is vital for attracting investment, driving industrial progress, and creating employment opportunities.

Governor Kundi reiterated his commitment to protecting the province’s rights and urged members of the provincial National Assembly to effectively address local issues in parliament.

Regarding taxation in the merged tribal districts, he noted the final decision rests with the prime minister, while criticizing the delayed release of the pledged Rs100 billion annual development allocation for former tribal areas.

He advocated for a streamlined system to support overseas Pakistani investors, stressing that the province’s vast natural resources—including oil, gas, minerals, and water—could foster economic growth if managed efficiently.

The governor also denounced attacks on election candidates in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, calling for peaceful and democratic electoral participation.

During his inspection of the male OPD and emergency ward at the Red Crescent facility, he reviewed patient care services, noting the new department was established through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pakistan Red Crescent KP and Northwest Hospital.

The agreement provides monthly free specialist consultations and pharmaceutical support, with additional partnerships formed with Ittefaq Kidney Hospital and Sundas Foundation to enhance medical services.

The governor praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League for promoting sports and providing constructive opportunities for youth development.
