ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP) — The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) posted a robust gain on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index rising 830.43 points, or 0.48 percent, to settle at 172,232.51 points, up from 171,402.08 in the prior session.
Trading activity intensified, with the ready market recording 773.593 million shares exchanged, up from 641.834 million shares, and total value rising to Rs26.453 billion from Rs18.466 billion.
Market capitalization expanded to Rs19.178 trillion from Rs19.093 trillion.
Of the 496 companies traded in the ready market, 262 advanced, 196 declined, and 38 held steady.
Cnergyico PK topped the volume chart with 150.274 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom at 91.079 million and Tasdeeq Information at 58.641 million.
Among the top gainers, PIA Holding Company Limited surged Rs259.28 to close at Rs15,932.33, while Khyber Textile Mills Limited gained Rs58.58 to finish at Rs1,871.26.
On the downside, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited dropped Rs250.00 to Rs25,000.00, and Pakistan Services Limited fell Rs70.82 to Rs1,151.42.
In the derivatives (DFC) market, turnover reached 456.574 million shares worth Rs20.360 billion, compared with 505.609 million shares worth Rs17.489 billion previously.
Of the 319 companies traded in the DFC market, 233 rose, 81 fell, and 5 remained unchanged.
