ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (APP): The benchmark KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) tumbled 3,078.56 points, or 1.79%, to close at 168,865.04 points, down from 171,943.60 points in the prior session.
Ready-market trading volume surged to 628.673 million shares from 477.674 million shares, while the traded value rose to Rs 27.016 billion from Rs 22.637 billion.
Market capitalisation fell sharply to Rs 18.854 trillion from Rs 19.233 trillion a day earlier.
Of the 499 companies traded in the ready market, 58 advanced, 406 declined, and 35 remained unchanged, reflecting broad-based selling pressure.
Cnergyico PK led volume with 99.405 million shares, followed by Tasdeeq Information with 40.989 million shares and Media Times Ltd with 29.478 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Elahi Cotton Mills Limited rose Rs 20.92 to close at Rs 230.11, while Khyber Textile Mills Limited gained Rs 16.70 to settle at Rs 1,886.60.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited fell Rs 1,044.95 to close at Rs 16,405.05, and Buxly Paints Limited declined Rs 103.04 to Rs 927.32.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover reached 175.545 million shares with a traded value of Rs 8.958 billion, compared with 131.978 million shares worth Rs 7.107 billion in the previous session.
Of the 299 companies traded in the DFC market, 9 advanced, 290 declined, and none remained unchanged.
