The benchmark KSE 100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) moved into negative territory on Monday, shedding 720.83 points, a decline of 0.41 percent, to settle at 176,975.68 points. This followed a prior close of 177,696.51 points. Trading activity in the cash market reached 937.270 million shares, up from 658.327 million shares in the previous session, while the traded value climbed to Rs39.134 billion from Rs31.454 billion. Market capitalization fell to Rs19.830 trillion from Rs19.885 trillion recorded a day earlier. Of the 503 listed companies traded, 169 rose, 302 fell, and 32 remained unchanged, indicating a broadly bearish sentiment. Cnergyico PK topped the volume chart with 293.181 million shares, followed by Waves Home (R) with 71.228 million shares and Bank of Punjab with 52.290 million shares. Top gainers included Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited, which rose Rs143.62 to close at Rs25,674.98, and Attock Refinery Limited, up Rs93.41 at Rs1,197.49. Among the decliners, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited dropped Rs49.89 to Rs9,250.11, while Nestlé Pakistan Limited fell Rs47.45 to Rs7,473.54. In the futures (DFC) market, turnover was 238.374 million shares with a value of Rs11.702 billion, down from the previous session’s 859.712 million shares worth Rs34.758 billion.
In the DFC market, of the 305 companies traded, 123 advanced, 175 declined, and 7 remained unchanged.
