KTM North America Inc., based in Amherst, Ohio, is recalling approximately 21,040 GASGAS and Husqvarna off-road motorcycles in the United States due to a rear brake caliper defect that could compromise stopping power, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday. An additional 4,140 units were sold in Canada.

The recall affects specific 2021 through 2024 model year off-road motorcycles from both brands. The CPSC warns that the rear brake caliper can crack or break, reducing the brake system’s effectiveness and posing a risk of serious injury or death in the event of a crash.

The motorcycles were sold at authorized GASGAS and Husqvarna dealers nationwide from September 2020 through June 2023 for between $7,300 and $13,000.
